Under the immediate supervision of the Arena/Park Supervisor, perform any combination of the following
duties:
Duties
• Perform a variety of tasks in maintenance and alteration of landscaped areas: mow, weed, trim
• Monitor landscape, correct or report problems, areas of neglect, etc.
• Rototilling of playground surface
• Janitorial cleaning tasks, sweeping, mopping and washing floors, walls, sinks, washroom units, etc.
• Move office furniture, also tables and chairs for social events
• Prepare and install outdoor rink boards
• Operate fork lift, tractors, snow blowers, riding lawnmowers, push mowers and other landscape equipment
• Understand and implement proper safety procedures in all above areas
• Assist in setting up and tear down event tents and related event equipment and assets
• Required to participate and support the City of Timmins Continuous Improvement Program in order to help foster a culture of operational excellence
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Grade 12 education or equivalency
• Applicant must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence
• Must be willing to work a variety of varying shifts which may include weekends
• Must be a self-starter with initiative
• Proven mechanical aptitude an asset
• Experienced grounds maintenance an asset
• Proficient in use of chainsaw
• Proficient in the use of small to medium tractors and loaders
• Capable of performing physically demanding work in all weather conditions
