Status: Full-Time, Permanent (35 hours per week)
Salary Range: $49,400 - $54,950

The Cultural Activity Coordinator holds that space.
You will work alongside Elders, Traditional Knowledge Keepers, and families of all ages to design and deliver programming that honours the teachings of Indigenous peoples in our region. Your work is grounded in the IPHCC Model of Wholistic Health and Wellbeing, which recognizes that physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health are inseparable.
What You’ll Experience in This Role

- Balanced work life: 35 hours per week within a supportive, community-oriented interdisciplinary team
What You Will Do
1. Plan and Facilitate Land-Based Cultural Programming
- Build relationships with Elders and Knowledge Keepers with respect for protocol and cultural teachings
- Plan and deliver seasonal land-based activities including harvesting, traditional skills, food sovereignty, storytelling, language circles, ceremonies, and family healing gatherings
- Apply the Medicine Wheel and Seven Grandfather Teachings as guiding frameworks
- Create safe, welcoming spaces for participants of all ages
- Coordinate logistics to ensure Elders and Knowledge Keepers are fully supported
2. Evaluate Programming and Support Quality
- Gather feedback through sharing circles and culturally grounded approaches
- Use a Two-Eyed Seeing (Etuaptmumk) approach to evaluate program impact
- Contribute to reporting and annual planning processes
3. Maintain Records and Reporting
- Document program activity in Misiway’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Ensure accurate records for reporting and evaluation purposes
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with organizational policy and legislation
4. Manage Cultural Programming Budget
- Track expenses and monitor budget performance
- Support annual budget planning and quarterly reporting
5. Build Community and Partnerships
- Promote cultural programming across Timmins and surrounding areas
- Build partnerships that strengthen land-based programming capacity
- Represent Misiway at community events as needed
- Support Indigenous language revitalization within programming
What You Bring
Required
- Connection to Indigenous culture, land, and community
- Experience working with or learning from Elders or Knowledge Keepers, with respect for cultural protocol
- Understanding of colonization, residential schools, and intergenerational trauma
- Post-secondary education in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and lived experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in health, social services, land-based, or community programming
- Strong interpersonal skills and a welcoming, respectful approach
- Basic budgeting and computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s Licence
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
Assets
- Ability to speak or understand Cree or Ojibway
- Experience working in an Indigenous-led organization or IPHCO
- Familiarity with the IPHCC Model of Wholistic Health and Wellbeing
- Experience with EMR systems
- Experience delivering seasonal or ceremonial programming
