Second Stage Housing Coordinator

Full Time Contract

Timmins and Area Women in Crisis (TAWC) is a dynamic, community-based feminist organization, which provides services on intimate partner abuse and sexual violence to women and their children in the Timmins area.  TAWC works within an integrated feminist, anti-racist, anti-oppression framework.  The agency administers a sexual assault centre, an emergency shelter as well as second stage housing to abused women and their children.

We are looking for a dynamic woman to join our team in the temporary capacity of Second Stage Housing Coordinator.  

The ideal candidates will demonstrate the following:

Qualifications:

·       Post-secondary degree/diploma in a relevant field

·       Solid understanding of feminist ideology and anti-racism/anti-oppression principles

·       Demonstrated crisis intervention, conflict resolution/mediation abilities

·       Strong coordination and organization skills

·       Sound judgement, problem solving, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, advocacy and mediation skills

·       Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office

·       Excellent interpersonal skills including; communication, networking and group/meeting facilitation

·       Must undergo a criminal record check

·       Must be able to do lifting/carrying

·       Must possess a valid Class G driver’s licence and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage

 

Main Responsibilities:

·       Develop and coordinate a Second Stage Housing Program in the South Cochrane area including procedures and policies specific to the program

·       In conjunction with area VAW agencies, coordinate admission of women to the program and support them throughout their stays

·       Liaise with landlord (Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board) and relevant community partners

·       Ensure health and safety standards of the program

·       Coordinate and facilitate community groups and meetings

·       Manage day to day operations of the program

·       Link women to appropriate community referrals

·       Coordinate and facilitate community groups and meetings

·       Oversee the recruitment, orientation and supervision of volunteers

·       Build relationships within the community to facilitate donations

·       Manage donations for the clothing program and clients

·       Complete various administrative tasks

·       Attend and participate in fundraising and awareness raising ventures
