About this Opportunity
This position will join our team working in Timmins, Ontario on a full-time basis. The schedule is Monday to Friday.

This position offers a salary range between $70,000 and $80,000 CAD annually.

Position Summary
The Recruiter is responsible for supporting the staffing needs of Hancon Mining’s Canadian operations, with a primary focus on sourcing and hiring qualified underground mining personnel for current and upcoming projects.

Reporting to Human Resources, and working closely with Operations and site leadership, the Recruiter will maintain an active candidate pipeline and coordinate recruitment from initial sourcing through offer and handoff for onboarding. This role requires a proactive approach and the ability to respond quickly to changing project requirements, mobilizations and workforce needs.

 Key Responsibilities
Workforce Planning & Recruitment
• Work with Operations to understand current and upcoming manpower requirements, identify staffing shortages and support project mobilizations.
• Recruit qualified candidates for underground mining and operational positions, including miners, operators, longhole drillers, development and construction miners, mechanics, supervisors, superintendents, safety personnel and other project-specific roles.
• Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates to support current and anticipated workforce needs.
• Maintain accurate recruitment and manpower tracking, including vacancies, candidates in process, outstanding offers and upcoming hires, and track key recruitment metrics.

Sourcing & Recruitment Marketing
• Proactively source candidates through job boards, social media, industry contacts, referrals, career fairs and direct outreach.
• Prepare and post job advertisements and support recruitment marketing initiatives.
• Develop and maintain relationships with mining communities, training organizations, colleges and other recruitment sources.
• Represent Hancon at career fairs, industry events and community recruitment initiatives.

Candidate Screening & Selection
• Screen candidates based on experience, qualifications, Common Core transcripts and modular training records, availability, rotation preferences and willingness to travel.
• Coordinate interviews, reference checks, fitness-for-duty medicals, drug and alcohol testing requirements and employment offers.

Onboarding & Mobilization
• Coordinate with Human Resources and Operations to ensure a smooth transition from recruitment through onboarding and site mobilization.
• Ensure candidate information is handled confidentially, and recruitment practices comply with applicable company policies and legislation.

Other Responsibilities
• Assist with other Human Resources and workforce initiatives as required.

Qualifications & Experience
• Previous recruitment experience, preferably in mining, construction, heavy industry or another skilled-trades environment.
• Underground mining recruitment experience is a strong asset.
• Knowledge of underground mining roles, terminology and qualifications is preferred.
• Experience with high-volume recruitment or project mobilizations is an asset.
• Strong sourcing, interviewing, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple vacancies and changing priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, job boards and recruitment platforms.
• Ability to travel periodically for career fairs, site visits and recruitment activities.
