Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Roads Supervisor, the Public Works Labourer will be expected to perform labourer tasks as well as operate machinery as assigned.

Duties

• Perform labourer work as assigned.
• Train on and operate various types of light and heavy-duty equipment as assigned.
• Ability to work shift work; nights, afternoons and weekends, including 12, 10, and 8-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• Applicants must possess at minimum a valid class G Ontario Driver’s License and be able to obtain their Class DZ within four months of hire.
• Grade 12 education or equivalency.
• Demonstrated skills, knowledge and ability to operate multiple pieces of industry related equipment.
• Experience working with concrete and/or asphalt and in construction will be considered an asset.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Good knowledge of the names and locations of City streets.
• Physical ability to perform medium to heavy category work.
• Clear Driver’s Abstract required.
