TERM: Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Social Development, the Navigational Services Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that individuals can access accurate and relevant information regarding First Nations Child and Family Services, Jordan’s Principle, the Trout Class Settlement Agreement, and the opening of the claims process.

 

REQUIREMENTS

·         Degree or diploma in social work, community development, or a related field would be an asset.

·         Extensive experience working within Indigenous communities, with knowledge of Mushkegowuk cultural practices and traditions.

·         Experience and knowledge of Indigenous issues and the current Child Welfare System.

·         Training and experience in trauma-informed care and cultural safety practices.

·         Ability to communicate in the Cree language will be considered an asset.  

·         Knowledge of First Nations health systems, including the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch and Non-Insured Health Benefits program.

·         Knowledge of the historical and intergenerational impacts of child welfare on Indigenous communities.

·         Must have a Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License

·         Current Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening are required.
