Timmins and Area Women in Crisis (TAWC) is a dynamic, community-based feminist organization providing services related to intimate partner abuse and sexual violence to women and their children in the Timmins area. TAWC works within an integrated feminist, anti-racist, anti-oppression framework. The agency is working towards expanding services to include anti-human trafficking supports for rural and remote communities in Northeastern Ontario.

TAWC is currently looking for an innovative woman to join our team in the capacity of Full-Time Anti-Human Trafficking Manager working at Timmins and Area Women in Crisis.

The ideal candidates will demonstrate the following:

Qualifications:

  • Excellent understanding of violence against women and women’s rights/issues

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience

  • Thorough understanding of the issues facing Indigenous Peoples and Communities

  • Specialized training in anti-human trafficking, sexual and domestic violence, trauma, mental health, and substance use issues

  • Demonstrated skills and experience working from an integrated feminist anti-racism anti-oppression framework

  • Understanding of the social service sector and provision of non-profit service to the community, including Indigenous-specific services

  • Understanding of trauma, mental health, and substance abuse issues as it pertains to human trafficking

  • Analytical thinking to monitor project progress, identify any issues, and adjust accordingly

  • Exceptional administrative skills including solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while following guidelines, budgets, and deadlines

  • Strong coordination and organization skills

  • Demonstrated crisis intervention and conflict resolution abilities

  • Strong documentation and report writing skills

  • Sound judgement, problem-solving, advocacy, and mediation skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including communication, cooperation, networking and group/meeting facilitation

  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to organize and carry out programming, groups, activities, and events

  • Must undergo a vulnerable sector criminal record check

  • Must be able to travel to remote and rural locations in Ontario (Remote travel: 2-3 days, 4 times per year; Rural travel: 1-2 days, 4 times per year) as part of the Anti-Human Trafficking Mobile Team

  • Must possess a valid Class G driver’s licence and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate a Mobile Indigenous Anti-Human Trafficking Mobile Team to serve remote and rural Communities in Northern Ontario, including the development of procedures and policies specific to the service

  • In conjunction with other team members, develop a work plan, then execute and adapt it accordingly

  • Connect and build relationships with community partners and remote and rural Communities

  • Liaise with host Communities to determine travel times, service delivery locations, and promotion of available services

  • Ensure health and safety standards of the program

  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings with the Team and partners

  • Participate in community committees

  • Manage day to day operations of the Team, including travel to Communities

  • Accompany and advocate for clients and TAWC on issues of human trafficking, sexual and domestic violence

  • Link women to appropriate community referrals

  • Provide risk assessments and the development of safety plans related to a woman’s unique situations

  • Complete various administrative and reporting tasks such as database case notes, etc.

  • Participate in agency and community events  

  • Travel to remote and rural Communities in Northern Ontario to provide outreach and court services for Indigenous survivors of human trafficking

 

Hours of work: 35 hours per week, mostly Monday to Friday, although may require some evenings/weekends
