FULL-TIME CO-COLLECTION TRUCK (Environmental Services Department – Waste Management) (Competition No.: PWE-2021-28)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate the Automated Co-Collection Truck and/or Manual Side Tipper Truck (Shupak) as directed by the Waste Management Supervisor
Conduct pre and post inspection checks and perform routine maintenance on the equipment in accordance with approved check list and maintenance programs
Ensure that equipment is kept in clean condition as required and report any malfunction
Conduct daily washing/cleaning of equipment
Ensure that the equipment is operated in a safe, efficient, effective and responsible manner, in accordance with all Legislation, and Department Standard Operating Procedures
Report any non-conformances, hazards or operational problems associated with the operation.
Maintain accurate records of works undertaken and communicate by two-way radio to update status and issues of the daily operation
Perform other duties as assigned by the Waste Management Supervisor
Grade 12 diploma
Applicant must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence, Class “DZ”
Must be familiar and knowledgeable in the operating and servicing functions of the Automated Co-Collection Truck and the Manual Side Tipper Truck (Shupak)
Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions, and abide by all safety regulations with an excellent safety record in the operation of equipment
Demonstrated good driving record
Good knowledge of names and locations of City streets is necessary
Good knowledge of the City waste management system
Current WHMIS certificate required
A fitness evaluation may be required in order to meet the physical requirements of this position
Applicants may be required to take a preliminary test on the equipment to demonstrate they meet the requirements of this posting before the award of this posting is determine
The successful applicant may also subject to a final test within the probationary period
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination mandatory

Rate of Pay: $28.39 (2021) (In accordance with CUPE Local 210 Agreement)
