What you will do in the role
- Design and implement nutrition-focused programs aligned with organizational and community needs.
- Oversee the preparation of healthy, culturally appropriate meals.
- Work with First Nations communities to develop and deliver responsive programming.
- Incorporate traditional Indigenous food practices into meal planning and education.
- Provide education on Indigenous food sovereignty and traditional harvesting methods.
- Coordinate kitchen use with internal departments and community partners.
- Train all kitchen users on food safety and operational procedures.
- Facilitate orientation sessions on kitchen guidelines and expectations.
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain records, reports, and program statistics as required.
- Manage food supplies, kitchen inventory, and equipment efficiently.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements based on feedback.
- Organize nutrition-related workshops, cooking classes, and food education events.
- Support the development and maintenance of a garden for kitchen use.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Supervisor.

What you bring to the table
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Nutrition, Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Program Development, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with First Nations.
- Valid food handling certification and knowledge of food safety regulations.
- Experience in community outreach and partnership development focused on food and nutrition.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively on a team and independently.
- Background in the food service sector, including cooking, meal planning, and kitchen coordination.
- Experience developing and coordinating food or nutrition-based community programs.
- Knowledge of traditional Indigenous food practices and harvesting methods is a strong asset.
- Must produce clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Must possess a valid “G” Ontario driver`s licence and have access to a reliable vehicle.
- Must have a $2M auto insurance liability coverage.
- Ability to speak an Indigenous language is considered major asset.
